A child development specialist is calling for a renewed focus on shared parenting, arguing that both mothers and fathers play an irreplaceable role in shaping responsible and emotionally healthy boys. The expert emphasized that boys, in particular, benefit from the distinct influences of both parents during their formative years.
"Boys need the guidance, love and support of both their father and mother to develop confidence and emotional stability," she said. According to the expert, a father's involvement often teaches boundaries, risk-taking, and resilience, while a mother's nurturing fosters empathy, communication, and emotional intelligence. When both parents are actively engaged, boys learn to balance strength with sensitivity.
The advice comes amid growing concerns about rising rates of anxiety and behavioral issues among young males. The expert warned that a lack of paternal presence can lead to confusion about masculinity and difficulty forming healthy relationships later in life. She stressed that shared parenting does not mean equal time in every case, but rather consistent, meaningful involvement from both sides.
She also urged parents to set aside personal conflicts for the sake of their children. "It is not about who is right or wrong. It is about what the child needs to thrive," she added. The message is a reminder that raising responsible boys requires teamwork, patience, and a commitment to putting the child's development first.
