The popular YouTube family, Cole and Savannah LaBrant, are opening up about their most effective parenting strategy, but they warn it does not come without a few bumps along the way. Raising five children -- Everleigh, 13, Posie, 7, Sunday, 3, Zealand, 5, and Beckham, 2 -- the couple has had plenty of time to test out different methods. In a recent exclusive interview, they shared the one hack they rely on most, though they admitted it usually takes a few messy attempts before the kids get the hang of it.
The trick, according to the LaBrants, involves giving the children more independence in the kitchen. Instead of doing everything for them, Cole and Savannah encourage their kids to prepare simple snacks and even help with meals. The catch? It almost always leads to spills, sticky counters, and a few minor accidents before the routine sticks. Savannah explained that while it is easier to just do it herself, letting the children make mistakes is the only way they truly learn.
Cole added that the approach requires a lot of patience, especially when cleaning up a mess of flour or spilled milk. But the payoff, he said, is watching the kids gain confidence and a sense of responsibility. The couple emphasized that the hack is not about perfection but about teaching life skills early on. For other parents looking to try it, their advice is simple: keep paper towels handy and accept that things will get messy before they get better.
