A dedicated group of volunteers in Colorado Springs, comprised of parents with children who have Down syndrome, is making significant strides towards establishing a GiGi’s Playhouse in the area. The initiative aims to create a welcoming center focused on education, socialization, life skills development, and career pathways for both children and adults with Down syndrome. Currently, organizers are in the process of negotiating a lease for a suitable location, with aspirations to open the center next year.
To support this vital cause, the group is hosting a neon-themed dance event this Saturday, with all proceeds going towards the establishment of the center. This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it aims to provide free services to participants, fostering an inclusive environment for families in the community. If successful, this center would become the second GiGi’s Playhouse in Colorado, joining the existing location in Denver and contributing to a growing network of support across the nation.
