Actress Jamie Lynn Sigler is sharing an honest look at the challenges she faces as a mother living with multiple sclerosis. The "Sopranos" star, who has two young sons, admitted she has been hard on herself when her physical limitations get in the way of parenting.
"I've had some moments of harsh judgment on myself as a mother because of things I physically couldn't do with my two active young boys," Sigler said in a recent interview. She explained that the disease, which affects her mobility and energy levels, sometimes prevents her from keeping up with her kids the way she wants to.
Sigler was diagnosed with MS in her early 20s but kept it private for years. Now, she is more open about the daily struggles. She described feeling guilt when she cannot join in on roughhousing or long outdoor play sessions. "There are days when my body just says no, and I have to watch them run around without me," she said. "That hurts in a way that is hard to describe."
Despite the difficulties, Sigler emphasized that she works hard to give her children a full and happy childhood. She focuses on what she can do, like reading together or having quiet conversations. She also hopes her honesty will help other parents with chronic illnesses feel less alone. "We all have our own version of doing our best," she said. "And that has to be enough."
