Frank Cioffi never expected to be raising a child again in his later years. But after losing his daughter, he made a quiet vow: he would adopt her son, Frankie, a boy on the autism spectrum. Now, at Riverflow Community, Cioffi is doing more than just providing a home for his grandson. He is working to create a lasting support system for Frankie and other children with similar needs.
The transition was not easy. Cioffi had to learn new routines, navigate therapy sessions, and understand the sensory world his grandson lives in. But he describes the bond as a gift. "She trusted me with him," he says of his daughter. "I am not just his grandfather now. I am his father. And I want to make sure he has a place where he belongs."
Riverflow Community has become the center of that vision. Cioffi is involved in planning programs that focus on life skills, social interaction, and vocational training for autistic individuals. He believes that with the right environment, Frankie and others can lead fulfilling, independent lives. His goal is to build a model that other families can look to for hope and practical guidance.
For Cioffi, this work is not about charity. It is about love, duty, and a promise kept. He is building a future, brick by brick, in memory of his daughter and for the sake of his grandson.
