As a mom of four in Pittsburgh, I find myself navigating the complex landscape of parenting where the focus often shifts from my children's well-being to the judgment I face from others. I want to provide my kids with the freedom to explore the world around them, whether that means playing outside or engaging with screens. However, it seems that no matter what choice I make, there are always critics ready to voice their opinions.
When my children play outside, I hear concerns about safety and supervision. Conversely, when they are on screens, I encounter disapproval regarding their screen time. This constant scrutiny creates a challenging environment where I feel torn between giving my kids the independence they need to grow and the fear of being judged by society.
Ultimately, parenting is about finding a balance that works for my family. I strive to foster an environment where my children can thrive, regardless of the opinions of others.
