Nicole Kidman has pulled back the curtain on a firm, non-negotiable parenting rule she enforces with her two youngest daughters, Sunday and Faith, admitting the girls are less than thrilled about it. The Oscar-winning actress, who shares her teenage daughters with country music star husband Keith Urban, revealed that she insists on a mandatory two-minute hug every single day—a rule her children have asked her to keep out of the public eye.
“They’ll kill me for telling you this,” Kidman said with a laugh during a recent interview, explaining that the daily embrace is a ritual she refuses to abandon, even as her daughters grow older. The Babygirl star emphasized that the brief but intentional moment of physical connection is her way of staying grounded with her family amid her demanding Hollywood schedule. “It’s just two minutes where we stop everything and hold each other. No phones, no distractions,” she shared.
While Sunday, 16, and Faith, 14, may roll their eyes at the tradition, Kidman insists it’s a small act that strengthens their bond. The actress, who also shares adopted children Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise, has always prioritized family despite her busy career. She acknowledged that parenting teenagers comes with its challenges, but the hug rule remains a sweet, if slightly embarrassing, constant in their home. “They pretend to hate it, but I know they secretly love it,” she added with a warm smile.
