The Duke of Sussex has opened up about a key parenting principle he learned from his mother, Princess Diana, and how he now applies it to raising his own children, Archie and Lilibet. During a recent appearance on the "Joe Marler Will See You Now" podcast, Harry reflected on the importance of creating a safe space for children to express their emotions.
He recalled that Diana was always willing to listen and validate his feelings, even when the conversations were difficult. This approach, he said, has shaped how he interacts with his son and daughter. Instead of shutting down a tantrum or a moment of frustration, Harry explained that he tries to get down to their level, listen without judgment, and offer comfort.
The prince noted that parenting is a constant learning process, but that Diana's example remains his guiding light. He emphasized that he wants Archie and Lilibet to feel heard and understood, a lesson he believes is crucial for their emotional development. By breaking the cycle of "stiff upper lip" parenting, Harry hopes to give his children the emotional toolkit that he himself had to seek out later in life. The conversation offered a rare, personal glimpse into how the late Princess's legacy continues to influence the next generation of the royal family.
